Rose di mele - apple roses

Both Italian and English version

Ingredienti:
1 rotolo di pasta sfoglia rettangolare

2 mele rosse
1 noce di burro
1 cucchiaio di zucchero semolato
confettura di albicocche
1/2 limone
zucchero a velo q.b. (opzionale)
Preparazione:
.

English version

Ingredients:
1 package puff pastry sheet (rectangular)
2 red apples
1 knob of butter
1 tbsp of sugar
apricot jam
1/2 lemon
powdered sugar (optional)

Directions:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Cut the apples in half, remove the core and cut the apples in paper-thin slices. Leave the peel so it will give the red color to your roses. Put the knob of butter in a pan on medium heat. Put the apples in the butter, add sugar and lemon juice. Caramelize for 3 minutes eac side. Unroll the puff pastry Unwrap the puff pastry over a clean and lightly floured counter. Cut the dough in 6 strips, each about 6 cm.
Spread a thin layer of apricot jam on each strip of dough. Arrange the apple slices on the dough, overlapping one another. Make sure the top (skin side) of the slices sticks a little out of the strip. Fold up the bottom part of the dough. Starting from one end, carefully roll the dough, keeping the apple slices in place. Seal the edge at the end, pressing with your finger, and place in a regular muffin cup. Do the same for all roses.
Bake for about 20 minutes, until fully cooked. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and enjoy!
